The tourism sector in Switzerland is gaining pace following the easing of Covid restrictions in March, with a considerable rise in tourist inflow in Q2.

The tourism industry is now back on track, according to PR and Media Manager for Montreux-Vevey Tourism, Tiffany Duc.

“Switzerland is receiving a major chunk of visitors from the GCC region and the United States of America in the post-Covid era.

“We are designing new strategies to attract more tourists from the wider Middle East region with particular focus on the Gulf countries.”

Duc went on to say: “Swiss Tourism are participating in all big tourism-related events in the GCC region and showcasing our latest products to the world. Our representatives for the GCC market in constant coordination with the local tour operators and tourism bodies to chart out new strategies and accelerate the arrival of tourists to our destinations.”

The PR and Media Manager added that the Gulf Cooperation Council is a crucial market for Switzerland as tourists from this region are typically big spenders and stay for longer periods. A further substantial rise in inflow from the GCC region is forecast over the coming months, Gulf Today reports.

Furthermore, Michaela Geiger, Manager Media Marketing at Swiss Travel System added: “Montreux and Vevey is a calm place and offers great value for money especially for families. The region is well-connected through the Swiss Travel System.”

She went on to say: “Our travel system is one of the best in the world and plays a big role in the economic growth of the country. The Swiss Travel System provides connectivity to all major tourist destinations. The Swiss Travel Pass is a very unique and cost-saving feature of the travel system.”
