Switzerland will become home to Amazon Web Services (AWS), an Amazon.com (AMZN) company in 2022.  
“AWS is excited to announce our upcoming region in Switzerland and help Swiss institutions, innovative start-ups, and world-leading pharma companies deliver cloud-powered applications to fuel economic development across the country.”
In a press release, Amazon said, "The new AWS Europe (Zurich) Region will enable even more developers, start-ups, and enterprises as well as government, education, and non-profit organizations to run their applications and serve end users from data centres located in Switzerland.” 
This will consist of three Availability Zones. France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Sweden, and the UK already have AWS firms. There are 77 Availability Zones across 24 geographic regions worldwide and another 12 others are being planned in Switzerland, Indonesia, Japan, and Spain.

Local customers with data residency requirements will be supported by the new AWS Europe (Zurich) Region. Clients are helped to keep control over the location of their data. A benefit of such a service is the use of technologies from a great cloud with the broadest and a variety of cloud services such as analytics, artificial intelligence, compute, database, Internet of Things (IoT), mobile services, serverless technologies, storage.
